DuPont Display Solutions unique enhancement technology utilises various combinations of
Anti reflection filters, collimating light guides and high efficiency
backlight improvements.
AR films are used on the display polariser to greatly
improve the contrast ratio by up to 60% a matte or gloss surface finish
is available.
Direct bond laminates a high efficiency Anti Reflection
glass filter directly to the front of the LCD polariser and provides the
best contrast and specular reflectance improvement (<0.2%). Its also
possible with this option to have EMC shielding (ITO or Mesh) incorporated
within the filter glass.
Passive enhancement: This method achieves a significant
increase in backlight brightness by replacing the standard CFL tubes with
high efficiency tubes, and in conjunction with improved diffuser materials
results in a brightness improvement of up to 60% without any increase
in input power. This coupled with the contrast enhancements above mean
daylight readability can be achieved at low power, without the associated
thermal problems of multi tube backlight solutions.
Active enhancement: For outdoor applications where an external window
or touchpanel is required or for direct sunlight readability, this option
is a completely re-engineered backlight system using additional CCFL lamps
and the optical improvements outlined above
